About Our School

OUR SCHOOL – (Grades 1-8)

Welcome to Connected to Learn, a small, close knit, Christ-centered school and learning center with a unique learning environment. We teach all core academic subjects, allowing our students to move forward at their own pace. Our goal is to provide engaging educational opportunities, while addressing the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs that often stand as barriers to meaningful learning. Our greatest strength is working with those students who may struggle with anxiety, depression, the ability to focus, sensory issues, or feeling overwhelmed. Through our holistic services, we provide the support to make learning fun again. In addition to our school day, we offer an after-school learning center. This time is dedicated to students who would prefer to attend homeschool or public school, but still desire to participate in our holistic services. 

EDUCATION

Students will participate in core academic instruction and supporting activities daily. We have designed our educational instruction to include both the aspects of working independently and working together as a team. Following academic instruction, students will learn to trust themselves and their abilities as they work independently at their own level. We believe that students need to develop confidence in themselves. Students are praised for their efforts and growth. We  focus on the learning process rather than the finished product. We believe this helps to foster self esteem, helping students to trust themselves in their learning journey.  

Our project-based learning activities and Journeys exploration encourage students to find their talents as they work together. We believe that students need to connect with others and learn how to problem solve with others by actively working together in groups to achieve common goals, collaborate, and provide mutual support. Students learn to rely on others strengths where they fall short and to use their strengths to lift and help others. Teamwork builds communication skills, while students engage in real-world projects to develop knowledge, skills, and deep understanding. These opportunities help students develop skills for a well-rounded productive life.

HOLISTIC SUPPORT

Connected to Learn has created a unique school environment to center around our holistic services because evidence has proven that our kids need more support.  As our society is evolving, various pressures and stressors are drastically increasing. The Health Resources and Services Administration found that children ages 3-17 years diagnosed with anxiety increased by 29% and diagnoses of depression increased by 27%, between 2016-2020. Similarly the prevalence of ADHD diagnoses amongst children has nearly doubled in the past 20 years.  Unfortunately, many students are too overwhelmed and stressed to engage in their own educational process. Others are experiencing bullying or are feeling insecure about themselves and their abilities. Some kids attempt to avoid school altogether, not understanding its importance. Others struggle with test and performance anxiety or social anxiety. Through thoughtfully designed group lessons and discussions coupled with meaningful holistic support, Connected to Learn works to address these needs. All students will start their day off with whole group brain integration, qi gong, breathing techniques and brain gym activities. They will also participate in group social skills and character development discussions. This is an important step to starting their day, preparing their minds and bodies to be clear and relaxed and better able to focus on their academic studies.Throughout the week, our professionals will work with each child individually or in a small group to address individual nervous system imbalances and brain integration needs.

CHRIST CENTERED

We are a non-denominational Christian based school with a focus on teaching our students to develop Christ-like characteristics. Our Character traits instruction focuses on developing these attributes; helping our students learn how to navigate relationships with poise and thoughtful kindness. Our school also uses “The Good and the Beautiful” homeschool curriculum that was designed with the goal of teaching these Christ-like attributes. Students learn to understand their worth as they come to understand that they are loved unconditionally by our Savior.

At Connected to Learn, your children will learn to develop the skills necessary to establish and nurture critical connections with others and within themselves. They will begin to feel more connected and supported by those around them. As they begin to embrace their self worth and intrinsic value, their ability to learn is profoundly magnified. Our goal is to help your children be able to grow and evolve into the person they were destined to be, feeling confident in their ability to participate and contribute to the world around them.
