About Our School

At Connected to Learn, we aim to help students rediscover balance.  Each individual’s ability to learn requires a complex balance between developmental/physical, emotional, and mental states.  So many kids are in need of support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, sensory sensitivities, and other learning challenges, but they don’t qualify for specialized support in public schools. When kids don’t feel safe, it is harder to learn. When they are overwhelmed with depression or anxiety, it is harder to learn.  When kids struggle to focus and their brain functioning is out of balance, it is harder to learn.  When they have deficits in motor and perceptual development, it is harder to learn.

Connected to Learn is a small homeschool hybrid in Salem, Utah for grades 1-8. As a private homeschool hybrid, we have the freedom to create unique paths of learning for each and every student.  We believe this starts with balancing and connecting within the mind and body.  All students at Connected to Learn receive daily nervous system, emotional, social, and brain balancing support so that blocks to learning can be overcome.  Each student is empowered to create feelings of safety no matter what is happening within and around them. When learning blocks are removed, students realize that it is easy to learn in our fun, safe, and engaging school atmosphere.

In addition to this support, Connected to Learn is able to remove unnecessary stressors such as timed assessments and standardized testing. Our small student body, high teacher-to-student ratio, and social and emotional skills classes help to create a positive peer culture.  When students begin to feel more connected within and supported by those around them, it will help them to embrace their own self-worth and intrinsic value.

Core subject lessons are taught in small groups and incorporate hands-on activities, games, and projects to cater to different learning styles and ways of understanding.  Our teachers use Socratic seminar teaching methods to develop students’ critical thinking ability.  Life skills, communications skills, and emotional regulation skills are taught daily to help prepare our students for the real world. At Connected to Learn, students are learning to live, not living to learn.  After four-hour school days, students have ample time to spend with their families, and are able to pursue extracurricular interests in their homes and communities.
